WISDOM TOOTH EXTRACTION
What is the treatment?
A tooth extraction is a procedure to remove a tooth from the gum.
How is it performed?
Before removing a wisdom tooth, a local anesthetic will be given to numb the area from which the tooth will be extracted. Subsequently, the gum tissue will be opened on the tooth and any bone that is covering the tooth will be removed. The tissue that connects the tooth with the bone is separated and then the tooth is removed. Sometimes, it will be necessary to cut the tooth into smaller pieces to make it easier to extract.
After the tooth has been removed, you may need stitches.
